Happiness begins with HAP

We're all about people

My husband and I hoped that we would find in HAP an agency that would provide a safe, happy and comfortable home for our son. That was in the summer of 2000.
Since that time there have been many challenges that have tested the depth of HAP's commitment.
The imagination, compassion and honesty that has been and continues to be used to work on these challenges is awesome. We are thankful to everyone who works so hard to help our son have a bona fide good life.

I like living here.  People are nice and I get to do things that I like.  I like my neighbors and I like to go out.  One year I went to Hawaii on vacation. I like to come home after work and relax and get comfortable.

Working at HAP has taught me to accept people for who they are.  I also have learned that everyone communicates and that it is our job to learn the language of the people we support, though at times it can be difficult. The most important thing is to learn to listen to what they are saying and tell them that they are being heard.  It is just as important to people with disabilities as it is to anyone else.
